Sha-La Music Inc. announced the worldwide release of DownTown Mystic's new digital single 'One More Chance,' scheduled for January 24, 2025, with global distribution through The Orchard/Sony Music. This release follows the October success of 'Better Day Digital 45' and precedes the highly anticipated album 'The Wish,' set for April 11 release. The single features two tracks including 'Read The Signs,' which showcases longtime collaborator Bruce Engler who co-wrote both songs with DownTown Mystic's Robert Allen and contributes lead guitar and vocals.
The title track 'One More Chance' includes a unique musical interlude and live jam session recorded as the track fades out, offering listeners a distinctive musical experience. Notably, the single features one of the last recorded sessions by the late drummer Tommy Mastro, who tragically passed away due to ALS. His muscular style is complemented by the bass playing of P.J. Farley, known for his work with Trixter and Fozzy. 'Read The Signs' features DownTown Mystic's established rhythm section of drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page, both of whom have worked with notable artists including Paul McCartney, Ian Hunter, and Dion.
Robert Allen, the writer and producer behind DownTown Mystic, emphasizes the positive message in the new single, stating he wants to put out positive vibes in the world with his music. This sentiment aligns with the band's previous release 'Better Day,' reinforcing their commitment to uplifting content. The release comes after a prolific 2024 that saw seven releases including three singles, two EPs, and two albums, with momentum building at worldwide radio and non-commercial/college radio in the US.
DownTown Mystic has cultivated a significant global fan base through international airplay in over 50 countries and has established itself in the sync-licensing world with music featured in over 240 TV shows and films. The band's music is set to appear in upcoming films including 'Sovereign' starring Dennis Quaid, Nick Offerman, and Jacob Tremblay, as well as 'Everything's Going to Be Great' featuring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. Critical acclaim has been consistently positive, with American Songwriter noting the music 'bristles with an energy and electricity that rarely subsides,' while Jamsphere Magazine commended Robert Allen's 'sheer power of musicality.'
As DownTown Mystic continues building on its successes, the release of 'One More Chance' marks another significant milestone in the band's journey, blending their signature roots rock sound with positive messaging and innovative musical elements. The single's importance extends beyond musical composition as it preserves one of Tommy Mastro's final performances, creating historical significance within the recording. Industry observers will be watching closely as the band moves toward 'The Wish' album release in April, anticipating another strong showing from this established yet evolving musical act with growing international recognition.
